I believe that compassion is necessary for a united world
We have all heard the saying “I believe that…” and it translates into “no, it isn’t fact, nor a categorical statement. It is just a belief”. It may be “Just a belief” but it is a pretty powerful thing to have. The crusaders invaded other countries just because they had different beliefs to the people they wished to conquer.
Adolf Hitler was a man who believed he and his fellow country men were destined to unite the world. It was a belief system which was not encumbered by self doubt or compassion. It was a simple, straightforward (if incorrect) belief and many millions who bought into that belief, along with many who did not, died on behalf of it. The Nazi belief was neither respector nor lover of life. It governed a whole nation for many years, dragging the nation from its humble kneeling position, up to believing it was tallest of the tall and back down again. So belief requires compassion to be effective
If I were trying to united the would the first thing I would do is remove the element of force and add compassion and jelly. Whether your belief be religious, tribal, hormonal, human animal or mineral in nature there is always room for less force, more compassion and, of course, the world can never have too much jelly (Jello for you Americans).
They are a couple of pretty important people who share my beliefs and, if asked, I hope would agree that my observations make sense. One day I shall meet these people face to face and I believe shall have only two words for them – “Thank” and “You”.
